Trini
Background:
Trini was adopted from a shelter and given a secure home where she became part of the family and was treated like a loving child. There were no "issues" until the family adopted another female Doberman. The dogs tried to get along and did pretty well until the "green eyed monster" (jealousy) began to assert itself. The dogs began to fight, and the owner gave up Trini to DRT.
Let Trini tell her story:
Humans do things that I'll never understand. I was happily residing in my home with my new family and lo and behold a new dog appears. We both tried pretty hard to get along (I think); but somebody had to be the alpha dog, and I had been there longer so naturally, I assumed I was the top dog. That didn't go down well with the other dog, so we began to disagree rather intensely. Much to my surprise, I got the old heave ho! It doesn't seem quite right, but that is what happened and that is why I am here.
I love to be petted! You have made my day if you greet me lovingly and caress my ears and scalp with a gentle hand. I have a special spot just where the ear and scalp meet that feels wonderful when scratched gently. While I am not a "hail fellow, well met" sort of Dobergirl, I do warm up quickly and enjoy getting to know folks. I like people in general and can be considered a dog that is not complete without the companionship of a master. I even like to have a blanket put over me at nighttime.
I have been taught some pretty neat basic obedience tasks. I will sit, stay, down and shake reliably and will "sit pretty" where I have both front paws up and crossed.
At meals I will sit quietly away from the table while the humans eat; and when given my excellent bowl of food, I wait for a "go ahead" release before starting to eat. My humans have taught me well, and I depend on them to show me the way in a human world.
I consider the Frisbee as one of the finest toys for dogs ever developed. If I see you throw it away I will dash after the spinning disk and make a leap at it while it is in the air. Usually I miss but I don't consider that an error. The whole purpose of this game is for me to take possession and keep you from recovering it! I love it and do so enjoy the game of being quicker than you! Sooner or later the master will pull rank on me and instruct me to "sit" and then "stay." If I can control my sporting nature, I will obey and then the game will begin again. What happiness, what joy!
I ride well in a car and am not a window "hanger." I prefer to see the landscape go by behind a closed window and not have to suffer the chaos of wind. In fact, an open window at highway speed makes me uncomfortable with the noisy wind blowing inside the vehicle.
Of course, I am a beautiful Doberman, with natural ears and a glossy coat. My head is erect and alert with gentle eyes that hope for kindness and project admiration. Please come by DRT and visit. I would be so honored if you would stop by my latest home and let me meet you. I am confident we would like each other.
