This handsome and energetic Doberboy came to us from a home where his owner, who had previously rescued him from having been abandoned, was being deployed.

He has a lovely temperament, being both easygoing and full of energy and excitement.  Despite his energy outdoors, he's very calm and good in the house, with vehicle rides, and at the vet’s.  He was somewhat underweight on arrival, but that’s a temporary condition at Elijah’s House!  He’s also very athletic, eagerly “leaving the ground” as he plays with any kind of toy available.

Our volunteers are quite smitten with him and share these comments:

“Casco is a sweet, strong boy with a big personality!  He loves to play and will sit patiently and wait until you throw him a toy or ball!  He likes being petted behind his ears and under his chin and will appreciate any and all attention you give him!”

“Casco is a happy dog that loves to play.  He'll be happy to chase the jolly ball around one of our fields and tug on the rope with you.  He also sits very well, albeit anxiously, when you have the toy he is wanting to play with.”

“Such a sweet and good-looking boy!  He has a great disposition and is quite loveable.  He could stand to gain about 15 – 20 pounds as he is way too thin right now.  Putting on a few pounds won’t be a problem at DRT.  Momma Carol takes weight rehabilitation quite seriously!  Give her two weeks (three tops) and Casco will be at his optimum weight.  Given his good looks and charm I’m not sure Carol will have a chance to work her magic, though!”

“Casco loves being rubbed on his chest. It nearly melted him to the floor!”

"Casco loves to be with people. When working out in the fields, he stays right beside you. He has a beautiful gait, and is very affectionate. He loves to give kisses. If you don’t want him to give you kisses, he is just as happy lying beside you."

And my notes from spending some time with him include these descriptors: “handsome, alert, curious, playful, and loving.”

I grew up on Casco Bay.  It’s a glorious and wonderful place.  Millions of people from away travel there each summer to enjoy its natural beauty and charm.  We call them “summer complaints.”

Our Casco is pretty wonderful, too.  If you’re in earnest about having a Doberman and recognize his beauty and are attracted to his natural charm, make an appointment to meet him once your application is approved, and come spend a little time observing and interacting with him.  I’m guessing if you do, you won’t be just a “summer complaint.”  Instead, you’ll be spending time with Casco year-round from then on.
