This pretty and fit young Dobergirl came to us after having been dropped at a shelter because her family “didn’t have time for her anymore.”  (They had her since a puppy.)  Personal opinions aside, I’m glad at least they passed her along instead of dumping her or worse.  Now, thankfully, she’s at Elijah’s House where she’s receiving the very best of care and attention as she awaits a new, actual forever home.

Not surprisingly she is a bit tentative upon meeting, but she quickly warms up and then is a total lover with plenty of kisses and eager to get into your lap, too, if you'll let her.

The previous owner’s lack of time apparently extended to protecting her from heart worm, because she is heart worm positive.  As our regular readers and adopters know, treatment for this is quite costly.  If you’d like to have a part in helping her get clear of these wretched parasites,  please consider making a donation so this lovely young girl can look forward to a long and healthy life, and we’ll greatly appreciate it.

Apart from the heart worm (soon to be cleared), this gal's in great shape and a love to spend time with.  Here's what out volunteers have to say about her:

“Matilda is an exuberant and playful girl who loves to put her paws up in the air when she is ready for you to settle in for a nice snuggle session!  She has an extremely sweet face and gentle demeanor about her, and she really wants your full attention so that she can shower you with kisses and sit on your lap!  Upon first meeting her she was a little shy, but she very quickly warmed up and was ready to be my best friend!  Such a sweet gal we have here, and I love her name!”

"The first time I met sweet Matilda, she was friendly and interested in meeting everyone in the room. Since I was sitting on the floor, she decided I was the one worth kissing - or maybe she just thought I needed my face washed.  My favorite thing about her - she has a 'polite' mouth.  She grabbed up a toy and obviously wanted me to play with her.  But she was very nice about it - she would let me take the toy away from her without argument or snappy behavior.  It's so much fun to play with a dog like her.  Matilda is sweet, pretty and polite - a true Southern Belle."

"Matilda is probably one of the most lovable Dobes I’ve ever met. The first night I met her, I sat beside her and told her to tell me about her day.  She put her head on my shoulder.  We continued our talk and she put her paw on my shoulder as if for emphasis.  I had to laugh.  She then showered me with kisses and a full body wag."

Now I suppose you could say our volunteers are biased in favor of our dogs, but what would be your point?  :-) We’re counting in the fact that you’ll be biased in their favor too!  The fact that you’re looking at our site suggests you already have the weakness, so if you think this lovely Dobergirl may be a match for your home, get your name on her dance card once your application is approved, and see for yourself.

Even though you’re not from Australia, you may be waltzing with this lovely Dobergirl for many happy years to come.
