Good with female dogs.
Interested in cats, but will back off if the cat hisses at him.
Good with older children.
Here’s a gentle, good-natured, and agreeable young Doberboy who came to us from a situation where his brother and he lived their lives outdoors, chained about six feet from each other.  A rescue angel tried to adopt the two of them together from those living conditions, but she quickly found that putting them together in the confined space in a vehicle wasn’t going to work.

She ended up taking just Hans home, where he immediately became good friends with her female German Shepherd.  Unfortunately the fact that he seems to have issues with other male dogs was unacceptable to the man of the house in his new home, so he came to Elijah's House while awaiting a new, forever home.

He's nothing but sweet with humans, children, and female dogs but does tend to growl around other males.  (He was actually scared of the cat when it hissed at him! He was curious at first, then backed off.)

You can see from his pictures that he’s a handsome young fellow.  He’s alert, interested, and perhaps more than anything just wants to be in a predictable, secure, loving home where he’s never chained out again.  Dobermans crave stability and routine and benefit greatly when they know the rules, so to speak.  Being in a stable, loving home will be just the thing for this fellow.

Our volunteers have shared the following observations:
“He was shy, but I think time with those who love him will get rid of that.”

“Hans is such a sweet little guy!  He greets you with such excitement and wags his tail as hard as he can- almost moving his entire hind end!  He loves scratches down his back and under his chin, and really can't be close enough to you!”

If you’re taken by his pictures and story and can provide the security and love he needs, make an appointment to meet him once your application is approved, and come see for yourself if he’s a match.  I can’t help but think you’ll both enjoy many happy years to come if you decide to make him a part of your family.
