This lovely Dobergirl came to us from a shelter, after having been picked up, along with another Doberman, as a stray.  She’s absolutely delighted to receive any attention she can get, and humorously, she indicates her delight with a nonstop “helicopter tail” when someone shows her a bit of love.  It's really precious to see!

She has a beautiful, deep red coat and is healthy and at ease. She’s a little larger-than-average for Dobergirls, but she’s none the wiser for that fact, and she carries herself with confidence and ease.

She loves to carry stuffed squeaky toys around, and she walks very well on a leash.  And as with virtually every Dober I ever knew, she also loves to be on the couch!

Here are some observations from our volunteers:

“Irma has a playful, sweet spirit about her. She is absolutely precious and is extremely happy to receive any and all love and attention you are willing to provide! She truly just wants to be near you so you can shower her with adoration. What a lovely gal!”

“Irma is super sweet. She walked right up to me and leaned in for some petting and just looked up into my face, wanting to be loved on. She was calm, confident, and very open to affection.”

One of our volunteers fostered her for a week or so, and here’s what she has to share from that time:

"Irma is a big, sweet baby who loves to relax on her couch in the sunlight and take lots of naps! She’s extremely alert, even when she’s sleeping, and she is very in tune with her surroundings. I love watching her patrol the back yard before she does her business to ensure the neighbor’s pesky cat hasn’t ventured over! I was amazed at how quickly she made herself at home and fit right in to our daily schedule! You should see the amount of attention she gets during our walks, and boy does she bask in its glory! She loves meal time, her couch, treats after she comes in from outside, scratches right where her ear attaches to that sweet Dober noggin, and being covered up by a fleece blanket before bed time! This beautiful girl is truly a winner!"

Mama Carol shared this observation from when Irma first arrived:

“When she arrived at Elijah's House for the first time, she stepped down out of the vehicle and we took her into one of the large, open fields. She took short, hesitant steps at first, and then the leash was removed. Again there were a few tentative, hesitant steps, and then she let loose and ran and ran and ran around those fields. I honestly think this was the first time in her life she had been loose to run and romp as she pleased. She even rolled in the grass the way playful horses will do.”

And finally, I spent some time with her recently, too, and I can add my personal affirmation that she is an absolute love. From the moment I arrived, her focus was on me, wanting to be made of, following me around, nudging me ever so gently from behind as I sat on a bench outside, then coming around and burying her head in my lap to be made of. You couldn’t ask for a nicer dog.

This great lady is a zaftig love sponge who just longs to be the center of someone's world. If you think you may have such a loving home, make an appointment to meet her after your application is approved and come see for yourself what a love she is.
