Three times over the years, stray dogs have shown up and stayed at my house.  The first was a beautiful red Dobergirl who had obviously been abused.  She found a loving home with us.  The other two were Weimaraners.  Each stayed with us while I placed ads (You know, as in the old days with newspapers!), and each was eventually claimed by his owner, admittedly to my disappointment. :-)

This handsome Doberboy was a stray who appeared at a home where they cared for him while searching for the owner.  Unlike the strays who have come to my house, when the owner of this dog was found, he gave him up due to the realization that he could not care for him properly.  I can’t help but wonder why he hadn’t sought a solution prior to the dog running off, but the important thing is that the rescue angels who found him saw to it that he made it to Elijah’s House, and that’s the best possible outcome for a Dober without a home.

His pictures show what a good-looking, healthy, and fit Dober he is - a tiny bit skinny at the moment, but that won’t last long!  And his personality is every bit as appealing as his appearance.  He’s a very nice and well-mannered boy who is dog friendly besides.  Interestingly he’s become best buddies with Nayla, and they’ll stay in an exercise field together, running around and having fun, despite the fact that on their own, both are fence climbers!  Some dogs are just especially sociable, and these two are no exception.

Our volunteers share these comments:
Handsome and calm, yet very athletic.”
"Trace really caught my eye when I first saw him! He's a very handsome boy with a joyous  and adorable face! He has a youthful energy and wants to be right by you to receive lots of love and attention!"
Trace was very patient while I gave him a bath and let me trim his nails with ease. He gave me a few kisses as I was towel drying. A kind, sweet boy!”
This just seems like an outstanding Dober who just needs a home where his humans are engaged with him and where perhaps there’s even another dog to play with.

If you have such a home and this handsome boy appeals to you make an appointment to meet him once your application is approved, and come see for yourself what he’s like.  I’m confident there won’t be a “trace” of disappointment, if you do.
