This lovely Dobergirl was one of two dogs that were the much-loved companions of a woman who died unexpectedly.  The woman’s son and his wife kept the smaller dog and surrendered the larger one to DRT.

This dear girl is clearly very lonely as a result of the sudden loss of her dear human mom, because she spent most of her time sitting beside the old woman.  They must have been inseparable, because Mama Carol says that this sweet girl clings so closely by her that she had difficulty getting her away from her side long enough to take pictures of her.  Now that’s a sweet, aching Dobergirl.

One of our volunteers shares this observation:
“Starla is a true Velcro Dobie.  When I am with her, she just has to be within a step away from you at all times.”

And yet another:  "Starla is a meek, sweet girl whose world has been flipped upside down. She just longs to be near you at all times so that she knows you are safe, and so that she is comfortable! Her sweet face just melts me, and that wild tongue cracks me up! Truly, she is a doll."

She can be walked without a leash because she won't leave your side.  Interestingly however, if you put her on a leash she tends to pull.  I’m sure a little work will solve that in short order, all the same. Asa with most Dobers, she likes car rides, and so far we see that she knows to sit on command.

She has some food allergies, but a proper diet is working quite well in dealing with that.  (Oh, and I should mention that tongue - is she comical, or what?)

The short of it is, this is a lovely, lonely, eager-to-be-in-a-home-once-again Dobergirl who will make an excellent companion for someone.

If you think you may be that someone, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved and come see for yourself is she’s the one for you.  If you decide to take her home, she’s sure to become the Star(la) of your life.
