I guess the good news is this beautiful Dobergirl is in good health, has no known or apparent history of abuse, and is not underweight. And while there no bad news, per se, there’s sad news regarding her past.

She came to us from a loving home with an elderly couple who had her only a few months. Her known history prior to that is that she had been abandoned and left in the yard at a house when the people who lived there moved away. Animal Control picked her up, and then for some unknown reason returned her to the house, leaving her in the back yard again.

Somehow before long she ended up at a rescue, where a vet tech took her and kept her at a vet’s office until a home could be found for her. Subsequently the elderly couple took her home and expected to be her loving, permanent home going forward. There were several happy months together, then the husband began to experience health issues and was hospitalized, and the wife realized she would not be able to give the dog proper care in light of the changed circumstances.

Thankfully they surrendered her to DRT, and she is now with us at Elijah’s House where she is receiving all the proper care, attention, and love she deserves and desires. As you can imagine, we’re now looking for the family whose home and hearts can provide a permanent respite for her and where she’ll never be abandoned or shunted off to another place again.

As you can see by her pictures, she’s strikingly attractive. She sits and speaks on command. As is so common with these Doberkids, she totally loves squeaky toys (large enough so they can’t be ingested, of course!).    A favorite thing is for her to find a spot of sunlight where she'll lie down on the floor and curl up. She also enjoys running in the yard.  And we’ve learned that she can climb a four-foot gate, but when she does, it’s only so she can come to the back door and be with us!

She’s of a calm, steady demeanor and is equally content to be inside, quietly being made of, or outside walking, playing, and running.

She’ll announce a stranger but warms up quickly.

If this beautiful girl and her story speak to your heart, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and some spend a little time with her.

Her name means “dark,” but she will surely bring light to your life if you decide to make her part of your family.
