These fabulously attractive and beautifully matched Doberkids are two of three siblings that had belonged to a military family.

The military family became unable to keep them at some point (perhaps due to deployment, not sure), and had to leave them with relatives.

The relatives fed and watered them, but basically the dogs were crated all the time.  The male was actually in a crate that was too small.  He was so cramped that he was unable to stand up straight when he first was removed from the crate.  (My baby dog suffered the same experience before being surrendered to DRT.)

Thankfully someone who knew the original owners was able to persuade them to give the dogs up in the realization that they could not go on living in crates, and there was no other option.  This considerate and persuasive friend was able to keep one of the three, and Etta and Gunner, who are very close to each other, have come to Elijah’s House.

It’s such a joy to see them out of their crates and in open space.  Mama Carol shares this observation:
“I can let these two loose in the big field and they will run like the wind.  All you have to do is call them, and they "about turn" and return to you!”

These two are very closely attached to one another and will only be adopted as a pair.  Please don’t ask to adopt one or the other.

These are fabulous Doberkids who will be a joy to the fortunate family that adopts them, and  Mama Carol describes them as being “super nice, gentle, easy going dogs.”

Our volunteers share these additional comments about them:
"Etta and Gunner are very sweet! It was so heartwarming to see the excitement in their eyes when we pulled up to the gate, and even more so when we put them in the field and they were running around.  They definitely enjoyed the wide open spaces and the lush grass!  It was as if they were saying we finally have the freedom to be dogs and don't have to be stuck in those crates all the time!”

“Etta and Gunner are wonderful social dogs.  They each come right up for a friendly pat and are so graceful as they stretch their legs for a run!  Someone will be very fortunate to get these two!”

Clearly this lovely pair is experiencing the joy of life that was not available to them for some time, and it shows in their pictures.  I’m sure they long for a home where they hopefully will never see a crate again.

If your home (and heart) has room for these two, make an appointment to meet them, and come see for yourself how terrific they are.  Just be sure not to ask about splitting them up.  Mama Carol may send you packing if you do! :-)
