This pretty young Dobergirl came to us from a happy, two-Dober home filled with love, peace, and tranquility.  But when her humans had a new baby, her mother instinct kicked into overdrive and she became very possessive of the new baby, growling at and becoming dominating against her male Dober companion.  He of course had done nothing wrong, but there seemed to be no solution to her accusing him all the same.  As a result, her humans decided it would be in the best interest to surrender her to us for placement in a new home.

As her pictures show, she's a beautiful red with rust color and has a pretty smile with a relaxed demeanor that belies her former protectiveness with the baby.   She walks well on a leash and enjoys running.  She also likes to eat apples, carrots, eggs, strawberries, peanut butter and compressed rawhides.  She enjoys sleeping by the fireplace and cuddling with her owners, both on the couch and in the bed, if allowed.  She totally loves to give kisses, and she enjoys playing with other dogs and will fetch and chase.  She also know the commands to sit, stay, come, down, and heel.

Here’s what our volunteers have to say:

“Talk about a beauty! Malaya is a striking girl with a lot of energy and need for loving attention!  She enjoys playing and running with her toys and her doberfriend Brighton, and then she will run up to you so that she can shower you with kisses!  Although a little shy at first, give her a couple of minutes to warm up, and you will immediately see a level of sweetness that is hard to beat!”

“I had to laugh.  Initially she barked at me, but within moments she was comfortable with me, rubbing along my legs like a cat and supplying loads of kisses.”

By our observation, she’s the same way meeting new folks in general - first uncertain and barking, then once she’s had a bit of time to warm up to them, she’s showering them with slurpy kisses.  Go figure. :-)

So if this lovely girl appeals to your heart, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come spend a bit of time with her.  Just be prepared for what you know will happen if you do!
